Our investments in renewable energy enable us to operate a self-sufficient, environmentally friendly cold store with advanced and highly efficient technology in an almost carbon-neutral fashion. We employ photovoltaic systems to generate electricity from the power of the sun and subsequently drive a propane compressor. The propane compressed in this way produces cold in a cyclic process. This cold cools a tank containing brine and ice packs. The brine is then pumped through pipes around the warehouse, so that heat from the ambient air is absorbed and the air cooled as a result. Finally, the hot brine is returned to the tank filled with ice packs, forming a closed ecological cycle using renewable energy.
Furthermore, the choice of food-grade brine as the refrigerant improves safety in the event of a leak compared to the exclusive use of refrigerants with a greenhouse effect.
We also utilize solar electricity for the mobile refrigeration units of our trailers, which are connected to our grid in order to reduce diesel consumption.
