As a family-run forwarding company with 90 years of experience, we specialize in the transport and storage of fresh produce. We are particular committed to sustainability. Photovoltaic systems are installed on the roof of every warehouse and all refrigeration systems are operated with natural refrigerants (carbon dioxide and propane). At home in Leutkirch in the Allgäu region of southern Germany, we pursue the ambitious goal of self-sufficiency with smart (electricity) management. Carbon neutrality is likewise a central objective.
Magnus Riedle, the grandfather of our current owner, founded the company in Leutkirch in 1932 with the aim of transporting long timber from the nearby forests to sawmills in the local area. Later on, in the fifties, the emphasis shifted towards products such as building materials, animal fodder, etc. In 1976, the first closed box bodies were used to transport raw materials for the production of processed cheese, while actively refrigerated vehicles made their debut in the early eighties.
The Riedle success story continued unbroken: in 1990, a forwarding terminal with a large warehouse and a workshop with an adjoining wash bay and welfare facilities was built on a 25,000 square metre plot of land on Leutkirch’s “Untere Auen” industrial estate. Seven years later, an extension was built onto the warehouse and equipped with a C-refrigeration system (+4 to +6 degrees Celsius).
Due to the steady increase in business with fresh produce, refrigeration technology (for +4° to +6°C) and rows of shelves were installed shortly afterwards in the part of the warehouse that was not yet temperature controlled, coincidentally with the first cold store for temperatures from 0° to +2°C. The large warehouse that went up in 2003 to cope with the growing demand for handling dry goods was extended six years later. The extension eliminated bottlenecks in the warehouse and there has been virtually no need to rent external warehouse space ever since.
2016: The construction of a new cold store and dry warehouse marks the final expansion step so far.
2018: Another high-bay warehouse is added. The dry store is equipped with state-of-the-art storage technology. Digital technology has been making inroads in all areas since 2018, for example customer connectivity with IT interfaces is becoming more and more prevalent.
2019: The old office premises are renovated and new offices built.
2020: The existing warehouse is converted into a cold store at the request of our customers.
2021: A deep-freeze warehouse is erected and completed.
